American police said, on Wednesday evening, that at least three people were injured in a shooting incident near a Muslim gathering to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the city of Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel announced in a press conference that the shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m., when police at the scene heard about 30 gunshots.
He added that two groups of people exchanged fire near a gathering of Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, and the terrified people began to flee, and the reason for the clash is not yet clear.
Bethel said officers have so far detained five people, and also found weapons at the scene.
Police shot one of the suspects, a 15-year-old boy who police said was carrying a gun, and sustained wounds to his shoulder and leg. A man was also shot in the stomach, and another young man was injured in his hand. Police said no one was killed.
Dozens of police officers responded to the shooting in the Parkside section of the city and cordoned off the scene.
