The US Army announced, on Tuesday, that it had destroyed 8 drones belonging to the Houthi group in Yemen during the past 24 hours, while the latter announced that Hodeidah Airport was targeted by 30 US-British raids, amid the United States imposing new sanctions on them.
The US military command said in a statement: “Over the past 24 hours, US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully destroyed eight Iranian-backed Houthi unmanned aerial systems in a Houthi-controlled area in Yemen.” She continued: "In addition, partner forces succeeded in destroying a Houthi unmanned aerial vehicle over the Gulf of Aden. No casualties or damage were reported from either the United States, the coalition, or commercial ships."
Today, Wednesday, the Houthi-run Al-Masirah Channel announced that Raymah Governorate, western Yemen, was targeted by four American-British raids, and it also announced that Hodeidah Airport was targeted by 30 American-British raids. The Houthi-run Saba News Agency quoted a statement issued by the Hodeidah Airport Administration, saying, “The American-British aggression targeted Hodeidah Airport and its facilities with more than 30 raids (since the two countries’ attacks began in January), as part of its criminal aggression through which it seeks to dissuade... “Yemen is about supporting the Palestinian people.”
The United States and Britain held full responsibility for targeting the airport, and the resulting destruction and damage to its various facilities, which would hinder efforts to rehabilitate the airport and operate it. It considered that this targeting contradicts all conventions and treaties that criminalize targeting civilian airports.
In a related context, the US State Department announced that Washington imposed new sanctions on 3 individuals and 6 entities that facilitated the purchase of weapons by the Yemeni Houthi group. The US State Department confirmed that some of the entities covered by the sanctions are located in China and have enabled the Houthis to achieve financial revenues.
