6.2-quake in China kills 127

A magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck China's Gansu province, killing at least 127 people and injuring over 700. Many houses, especially those made from earth and clay, collapsed in the worst-hit areas. Rescue efforts have been challenging due to sub-zero temperatures. More than 155,000 homes were damaged or destroyed. The quake also caused landslides and infrastructure damage.
