A fire in the Manama Market in Bahrain causes injuries and destroys shops

Yesterday evening, Wednesday, the Ministry of the Interior in Bahrain announced that a fire had broken out in the Manama Market in the capital, while local media reported that the fire had caused injuries and consumed 25 commercial stores.

The Ministry said in two posts on the “X” platform, “Civil Defense is beginning to put out a fire that broke out in a multi-storey building in Manama Market.” She confirmed that "16 vehicles and 63 officers and individuals were heading to confront the fire, while the competent authorities are undertaking their necessary procedures at the site," without specifying the causes of the fire.

In turn, the Bahraini newspaper Al-Ayyam said, “Fire destroyed more than 25 shops in the old Manama Market,” noting that “a number of injuries were recorded,” without providing preliminary statistics. The newspaper published a video clip documenting the firefighting operations by the competent authorities.

Earlier Wednesday, two residential buildings in southern Kuwait witnessed a huge fire, resulting in the death of 49 people, according to the Ministry of Interior.
