The air was charged with anticipation. Mnyika, the Secretary-General of Tanzania's opposition party, Chadema, was preparing to speak about the upcoming elections when the chaos erupted. Without warning, heavily armed police officers stormed the event, grabbed Mnyika, and dragged him away.
