A memorable constitution was made, but whose responsibility is the defense of the constitution? : Pakistan

According to its makers, the purpose of creating a memorial of the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan in front of the Parliament House in Islamabad is to inform the common people about the features of the Constitution.

However, most people in Pakistan believe that the real guardian of the constitution is the parliament itself , where it has often been ignored for political or personal gain.

The Supreme Court itself declared in the hearing of the petitions regarding the military courts in recent days that the real guardian of the constitution is not it, but the elected representative parliament of the people.

The Constitution of Pakistan gives many rights to the people which were written in the form of the constitution book, but according to the observers, the facts on the ground seem to contradict them.

A few years ago, when a deputy speaker dissolved the assemblies, on that day Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tweeted, "We cannot compromise on the constitution under any circumstances." If we cannot implement the Constitution in the National Assembly, then we cannot dream of supremacy of the Constitution anywhere.'

According to most of the political analysts, the real battle for the implementation of the constitution is going on within the parliament itself.

The monument is like an open book with two pages, which conveys the message that in a democracy, as much as opinion is important, dissent is also important.

On one side is written the complete preamble of the Parliament which promises the constitution to the citizen.

Former Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf inaugurated this 'Memorial Constitution' on February 29. Its foundation stone was laid on April 10, 2023, 50 years after the adoption of the Constitution.

In this seemingly simple design, all things conform to the constitution.

Shamoon Hashmi, Special Secretary of the National Assembly, who is working on the memorial constitution project, told Independent Urdu that 'here, the constitution is basically the relationship of the individual with the state. In fact, the constitution is the fundamental rights, the rest of the constitution is related to the implementation of these fundamental rights.

This initial traces the constitutional journey from the Constitution brought by the military president where 'I' was mentioned to 'I' in the 1973 Constitution.

The number of pine trees here is 311 because the number of operative articles in the constitution is 311. They are likened to trees because the Constitution is a living document. There are six routes to Yadgar Dastur representing four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Shimoun Hashmi said that 'stones on the ground have also been chosen as white and black because the constitution does not speak in ambiguity i.e. there is no gray area in it. The color of the book was kept green because green is the color of our nation.

On the back of these papers are also written the name of the government officials and especially the tireless worker Isa Khan, who used to balance while hanging about 150 kg stones in the air, which according to Shimoun Hashmi is a very difficult task.

If we come to the right side of these papers, a triangle is being made where the names of all these workers, the members of the committee consisting of the parliamentary leaders who made the memorable constitution and the members of the committee who made the constitution of 1973 will also be written.
