African mediators claim progress in efforts to end Sudan's war

An African regional body involved in mediating the war in Sudan has secured a commitment from warring parties to implement a ceasefire and hold a political dialogue. Eyewitnesses reported blasts at the Al-Jaili oil refinery in Khartoum. A Red Cross convoy came under fire in the capital. Talks between Sudan's army chief and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have taken place in Djibouti. Both sides have agreed to the ceasefire proposal and a meeting within 15 days.
