In May 1944, Jews in Hungary began being deported to Auschwitz. In just eight weeks, Hungarian gendarmerie officials, under the guidance of German SS officials, forced more than 420 thousand Jews onto deportation trains. Most were killed in the gas chambers shortly after. This is the story of one Hungarian survivor, Agnes Darvas. Now 92 years old, she was only 12 when she was sent to Auschwitz. Story by Charli James.
