References to self-harm and suic*de might be seen throughout the trailer for the upcoming Netflix docuseries American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders.
The documentary is about the death of journalist Danny Casolaro, who appeared to have killed himself, but his family and colleagues felt, and continue to think, otherwise.
Casolaro had been researching a conspiracy known as “the Octopus,” which connected a series of unsolved killings, an undercover organization with stolen government conspiracy software, and some of the twentieth century’s highest-profile political scandals.
American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murder | Official Trailer
Netflix’s American Conspiracy trailer contains real-life murder, mystery, and spy-related scandals.
Danny Casolaro, a freelance writer, rose to fame in 1991 after he was discovered dead in a bathtub in room 517 at the Sheraton Hotel in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
The investigation revealed that his wrists had been cut 10 to 12 times. The medical examiner ruled that it was a suicide. His killing aroused outrage since his articles suggested a political conspiracy that he called ‘The Octopus.’
The trailer begins with a news program reporting Danny’s death as a suicide. Then, in the background, we hear someone declare that he doesn’t believe it was suicide but rather a murder.
The video starts with Danny starting to write a book on some important people, and he realizes that something far greater is going on.
Eight guys weren’t government officials but were deeply connected to governments in any country in the world.
The eight men are known as ‘The Octopus’. Then, the first man reveals that it all started with software. The programs in that software enabled the CIA to spy on the intelligence service that bought it.
Then we hear Casolaro’s voice recording, which says two of the eight men transferred about $40 million. The recording abruptly stops just as he reveals where all the cash was spent.
The trailer also indicated that whoever was working on this case was somehow killed. However, somebody in the background claims that it had been known who was behind the plan, but no one could bring justice.
This horrific crime resulted in the deaths of far too many people. Finally, the video shows another audio recording in which someone threatens, “If you think for a moment that you’re going to expose somebody, you’re about to get yourself killed.”
