Business Insider reported, citing an American mercenary nicknamed Jackie, that the lack of ammunition supplies to Ukrainian forces gives Russia the "advantage" on the battlefield.
The mercenary, who has been fighting alongside Kiev since 2022, said that due to the Ukrainian forces' lack of ammunition, the Russian army has "complete freedom of movement."
He pointed out that Russian forces "represent the top predator on the battlefield" and are able to accurately focus artillery fire on the infantry and armor of the Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on Thursday that its forces improved their positions on several combat axes, and shot down a plane and 196 Ukrainian army drones, while Kiev's losses amounted to about 910 soldiers during the past day.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also confirmed in a statement on March 20 that Kiev forces have lost more than 71,000 personnel and 11,000 military vehicles and weapons since the beginning of the year, more than 3 times their losses for the same period last year.
Against the backdrop of these losses, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree last Tuesday reducing the mobilization age from 27 to 25 years, in order to expand the scope of recruitment operations.
