Throwflame, an Ohio-based company, announced that almost any American can now own a robotic dog equipped with a flamethrower for $10,000.
The battery life of the robot called “ Thermonator ” is one hour, and the range of the ARC flamethrower is about 10 metres, according to the specifications issued by the company.
In a press release issued Tuesday, the company said: “The Thermonator is the first flamethrower robot dog ever.”
The Thermonator appears to be based on the Unitree Go1, a smaller and lighter version of Boston Dynamics' popular "Spot" robot dog.
Throwflame explained that flamethrowers "are not federally regulated and are not even considered a firearm by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms."
She continued: “There are only two states that have restrictions on flamethrowers: California requires a permit, while Maryland has banned them completely.”
Notably, Throwflame bills itself as “the oldest flamethrower manufacturer in the United States” and claims that its products are “proudly manufactured by military veterans.”
