An Air France plane makes an emergency landing at Baku International Airport

An Air France plane carrying 280 passengers on a flight between Osaka and Paris made an emergency landing at Baku International Airport in Azerbaijan due to a smoke warning on board.

The Air France Boeing 777, on a flight between Osaka (Japan) and Paris, was forced to make an emergency landing in Azerbaijan after an alarm was sounded in the cabin due to smoke on board.

The press service of Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, Azerbaijan, explained that “an alarm was announced this evening at the airport due to the emergency landing of an Air France plane, as the plane sent a request to land due to smoke on board.”

She also added: “The Boeing 777 sent a request to the airport for an emergency landing, and it landed successfully at 16:37 Baku time (15:37 Moscow time).”

She explained that "280 passengers were evacuated from the plane immediately, and there were no injuries as a result of the accident," while she confirmed that "the plane is currently being examined and a set of necessary measures are being taken to find out the causes of that smoke."
