ANDREW and Tristan Tate will stand trial as part of an ongoing rape and human trafficking probe in Romania.
The controversial brothers were arrested in 2022 and charged with human trafficking, rape and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women.
Andrew Tate, right, and his brother Tristan outside court in Bucharest, Romania in December last year[/caption]Andrew, 37 and Tristan, 35, have repeatedly denied the charges levelled against them.
Today, a court hearing was held to decide whether or not they would face trial or if the case would be referred to Romania’s organised crime and terrorism body, DIICOT.
The court ruled a trial would go ahead, Tate’s spokesperson exclusively confirmed to The Sun.
The decision had been postponed, dragging on the Tate proceedings on for more than a year.
Andrew and Tristan were accused of recruiting women on social media platforms and luring them to their villa on the outskirts of Bucharest.
Both men are alleged to have pretended to fall in love with the women before getting them to work for their business and making them perform sexual acts on webcams.
Two Romanian female suspects were also formally charged.
The brothers and their two alleged accomplices – Georgiana Naghel and Luana Radu – were released on house arrest in August last year.
Disgraced influencer Andrew and his brother lived under judicial control – similar to bail – pending their long-awaited trial today.
It meant they were free to leave their homes, but not the capital Bucharest or remaining Ilfov country.
They made several desperate bids to return to the UK after being released on bail which were rejected.
Last December, the brothers made their most recent attempt in a visit to their sick mum after she suffered a heart attack.
They tried to request an “emergency visit” to the UK – but were shot down.
A Romanian judge also refused their appeals to have £10 million worth of assets returned to them.
Their assets include 15 luxury cars, 14 watches, and 10 buildings and lands, all of which are located in and around Bucharest.
In March the brothers were arrested again in Romania over allegations of sexual aggression in the UK that date back to 2012 and 2015.
They denied the claims, but were reportedly set to be extradited to the UK following the end of legal proceedings against them in Romania.
Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in the ongoing investigation, saying that he is a victim of something called The Matrix.
The former kickboxer invited fury around the globe after splashing controversial and outrageous claims on social media.
He once said women should “bear some responsibility” for being raped., not long after allegations made against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
Andrew has been removed from X, formerly known as Twitter, on several occasions and in January last year, the social media site said an account he’d created on the platform was “verified in error”.
He runs his own online network called “The War Room” which has been described as an “exclusive online network for men”.
