THIRTEEN people including four children have been killed after a trailer carrying a wedding party overturned and crushed guests.
Around 30 people from Rajasthan, India, were travelling in the tractor trolley to Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district as part of a marriage procession
The accident occurred around 9 pm near Piplodi in Rajgarh district, which is 150 km north of Bhopal and barely 2 km from Rajasthan.
The wedding guests were packed into the tractor-trolley, while some were on motorcycles.
Near Piplodi, the tractor went out of control and overturned, crushing several people.
13 people including four children died due to being trapped under the trolley, reports the Times of India.
15 people were injured with two believed to be in critical condition.
Locals rushed over to help after the horrific incident with the passengers buried underneath the trolley.
A JCB was then called which lifted the trolley so people could be freed.
Those who suffered injuries were rushed to the district hospital and are receiving urgent treatment.
Rajgarh Collector Harsh Dixit said that the wedding invitees were travelling to the Rajgarh district from Rajasthan.
If eyewitnesses are to be believed, the number of people killed in the accident may be higher than reported.
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav has expressed his deepest condolences and said that the state government is in constant touch with the Rajasthan government.
