Bangladesh will hold its 12th general election on Sunday, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expected to win a fourth term. The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has boycotted the polls, calling the government illegal. The Brussels-based think-tank International Crisis Group (ICG) has warned that Bangladesh is at a critical juncture, as the election lacks a credible alternative to incumbent government. The election will be closely monitored by over 100 foreign observers, including three from India.
