Colombian James Rodriguez won the award for the best player in the Copa America 2024, despite his country losing the title to the Argentine national team 0-1 early Monday morning.
Rodriguez, the star of the Colombian national team and the Brazilian club Sao Paulo, shone with his country's national team during his career in the 2024 Copa America.
Defending champions Argentina won the Copa America for a record 16th time, after a late extra-time goal from substitute Lautaro Martinez after a goalless draw at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.
Rodriguez played 6 matches in the Copa America, scored one goal and provided six assists.
Lautaro Martinez was the tournament's top scorer, scoring five goals, including the winner in the final against Colombia.
The award for best goalkeeper went to the Argentine national team and Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez.
The Argentine national team succeeded in winning the Copa America title for the second time in a row and the 16th in its history, after winning the last 2021 edition, while the Colombian national team's record of titles froze at one title, which it won in the 2001 edition.
