Binance.US Extends Support For IOTA Rebased Upgrade

Before the event, Binance.US will temporarily disable IOTA deposits from or withdrawals to May 2, 2025, at 11 p.m. EDT. Users are advised to put all transactions involving IOTA within this window. All deposits made after the cutoff will not be credited, and such deposits may entail the irrecoverable loss of funds, the exchange stated. Binance.US advises users to delete any known or whitelisted IOTA deposit addresses at the risk of them becoming invalid past the launch of the new network.

Upon completion of the mainnet upgrade, Binance.US will launch a fresh set of deposit addresses for IOTA. They will begin to become available within about one week of the transition. The exchange stated that new addresses can be accessed directly through the IOTA deposit page available through the app or website of Binance US. Using the SAPI interface, users who rely on API integrations will have access to the updated addresses.

The actual upgrade is a radical change to the IOTA protocol. On its official X (formerly Twitter) account, IOTA posted, “5.5.2025 → A new IOTA begins. Built on nearly a decade of research. Inspired by the best of Web3. Committed to open-source values.” The network’s evolution includes major technical advancements and broader ambitions for real-world utility.

Major Changes After May 5 Upgrade

After the May 5 upgrade, IOTA will have a genesis event that comes with 13 validators and a fully decentralized network infrastructure, as highlighted in the previous story. The reengineered protocol is expected to support up to 150 validators in total, with high scalability features that include transaction throughput exceeding 50,000 transactions per second and finality within seconds.

IOTA emphasized its commitment to decentralized applications and smart contract functionality. “Smart contracts, decentralization, real-world adoption – just 2 weeks to launch,” it stated. Here, they highlighted the network’s new MoveVM framework, designed to enable Layer 1 smart contracts.

IOTA Staking is another key feature of the service that aims to pay yields between 10% and 15% annually to users. Though the upgrade will improve IOTA, it will not impact trading of IOTA across exchanges such as Binance.US. Such suspension only covers deposit and withdrawal functionalities.

However, the IOTA Foundation has referred users who want deeper technical details or some preparation steps to its blog, on which there is an upgrade roadmap. The network declared, “Our march to the top starts here” as it aims to reshape its ecosystem for greater decentralization and adoption.
