Why Interoperability and Full-Suite Solutions Matter

The Web3 gaming ecosystem has been one of the most resilient crypto niches; according to the latest report by DApp Radar, blockchain gaming accounted for the largest share of DApp activity, with over 4.4 million daily active wallets.

Given the fulfillment of playing competitive games, this sustained interest in blockchain games is no surprise. Even better, blockchain gaming models have introduced reward initiatives where players get to engage in competitive gameplay and are incentivized to participate through tokenized rewards. These rewards are mostly Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or blockchain-based digital collectibles.

However, despite the success, the blockchain gaming ecosystem is still nowhere near the Web2 gaming market. This is because of a couple of factors, most notably the technical know-how required to get started for both developers and gamers.

It is also noteworthy that the blockchain gaming ecosystem is currently fragmented, which means that players are limited to specific blockchain environments or have to incur significant costs to transfer their digital collectibles from one ecosystem to another.

Full Suite Solutions: The Future of Web3 Gaming

What if prospective Web3 developers and gamers were provided with a seamless and comprehensive onboarding experience? This would undoubtedly be a game-changer in the adoption of Web3 games.

Currently, most Web3 gaming platforms focus on limited products. For example, NFT marketplaces such as Opensea and Blur only exist to exchange NFTs and other gaming collectibles.

Similarly, popular standalone NFT games such as Axie Infinity and Gods Unchained are built to be compatible with different blockchain networks. However, players have to leverage NFT marketplaces to purchase or sell the digital collectibles associated with these gaming ecosystems. This fragmentation is one of the main reasons why blockchain gaming has yet to achieve the level of adoption it deserves.

On the brighter side, some of the industry’s savvy innovators are gradually realizing that offering full-suite Web3 gaming solutions could be the much-needed solution for blockchain gaming to go mainstream.

Funtico’s Universe is Setting the Stage

The Funtico universe is one of the few blockchain gaming projects that has already pioneered a full-suite Web3 gaming platform.

Built as a full-stack, cross-chain platform, Funtico’s gaming ecosystem goes a notch higher to offer a publisher-as-a-service (PaaS) solution. This initiative is important in supporting developers in building Web3 games, whether they are blockchain pros or have a Web2 background. As for the gamers, Funtico features several incentivized in-house games, such as Formula Funtico and a tap-to-earn game dubbed Lucky Funatic.

What stands out, however, are the additional modules within the Funtico gaming platform. The platform’s product suite includes an NFT marketplace, a creator studio, and the native currency $TICO, which acts as the transaction currency. The NFT marketplace allows gamers in the Funtico universe to seamlessly buy or sell in-game items without the hassle of going through external NFT marketplaces.

On the other hand, anyone interested in showcasing their NFTs or digital collectibles can leverage the creator studio to have their work voted for and potentially listed on the Funtico marketplace. While still a nascent project compared to more established Web3 gaming platforms, Funtico’s approach to embracing a full-suite ecosystem is what blockchain gaming needs to break the fragmentation barriers and streamline the onboarding process.

Looking Into the Horizon

As blockchain gaming continues to gain popularity, stakeholders, both developers and gamers, should appreciate the value proposition of comprehensive solutions. Such innovations are more likely to address the current pain points of Web3 gaming than standalone ecosystems.

For starters, full-suite Web3 gaming platforms offer a more streamlined user experience. Instead of users hopping from one platform to another, it is more convenient to engage in gaming ecosystems where playing is as seamless as selling one’s in-game assets. This barrier to value realization has been one of the main reasons why the popularity of collecting in-game items has dwindled over time.

It is also noteworthy that more comprehensive Web3 gaming platforms include interoperability. This means that gamers can transfer or use their digital collectibles across different blockchains or gaming environments.

These few pointers are just the tip of the iceberg of what could be derived from full-suite Web3 gaming platforms. There are more reasons for innovators in this space to build solutions that focus on the reward aspect and deliver the true promise of borderless economies where asset transfer is as seamless as possible. Only in this way can blockchain games challenge the long-standing dominance of traditional games.
