THE body of a Briton found in a terror tunnel tomb had gunshot wounds, it was revealed yesterday.

Nadav Popplewell, 51, and five other Israeli hostages all appeared to have been executed in Gaza.

They were found by Israel Defence Forces more than 30ft below ground, behind a false wall in a tunnel shaft.

Four bodies — believed to be terrorist guards — were found nearby in Khan Younis.

IDF troops burst into the tunnel, where they also found Hamas weapons, on Tuesday.

Nadav, originally from Wakefield, West Yorks, was taken on October 7.

His sister, Ayelet Svatitzky, had called for his release.

Her mum Channah, 79, was freed during a brief ceasefire last November.

Another brother, Roi Popplewell, 54, was shot dead during the October raids.

Hopes are fading for remaining captives as ceasefire talks stall — while Israeli troops close in on Hamas kingpin Yahya Sinwar.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum told The Sun yesterday: “A deal has to be made quickly as it is the only way of getting any of the surviving hostages out alive.

“Every day that passes increases the risk to those alive and the families’ agony.”

Records show there are 109 hostages in Gaza, but analysis now suggests only about 50 are still alive in Hamas lairs.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had raised hopes of a deal by backing a compromise plan but Hamas chief Sinwar rejected it.
