The discussions took place with representatives of Brazil, South Africa, Iran, Laos, Thailand and Ethiopia.
This two-day summit, which took place on June 10 and 11, is of particular importance in preparation for the major BRICS summit scheduled for October. At the event, leaders of member countries will meet in the Russian city of Kazan, as Russia assumes the rotating presidency of the group.
Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri expressed gratitude to Sergei Lavrov for Russia's condolences following the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and other government officials in a helicopter crash last May .
For his part, Sergei Lavrov reaffirmed Moscow's support for Iran, declaring that Russia is committed to "the continuity of our relations and the unchanged attitude towards the development of mutually beneficial cooperation In all areas".
The diplomatic gathering illustrates the importance of relations among BRICS member countries and highlights efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in various fields.
