Rescuers say there is now little hope that she will be found alive after they failed to locate her when they rescued her three friends after searching for two hours between 8:30 pm and shortly after 10 pm when it became too dark to see anything.
All of the four, including the missing girl, were reportedly around the same age and all from the United Kingdom.
It is believed that the three companions tried to rescue the girl, which also caused them difficulties.
An eyewitness told local media that two of the boys had injuries to the legs and were covered in blood, and there was an older woman there who was apparently the mother of one of the kids who was “panicking and screaming”.
The local person said the boys would have had no chance to save the teenager, as the water was too wild and impassable.
They added: “The boys barely survived”.
It is believed the injuries were caused when they were swept against the rocky peer that forms the harbour that separates the Ijduin and Scheveningen Beaches in The Hague.
The search was being carried out by boat and helicopter and is now reduced to checking the shoreline after it was reported there was little hope she was still alive and rescue efforts focused on finding the body, according to the latest reports from Monday night.
