Brit tourist drowns in front of horrified wife after being swept away while swimming off Goa beach

A BRIT tourist has drowned in front of his wife after being carried away by strong currents while swimming off a beach in India.

The man, 72, died on Friday evening at Talpona beach in Canacona, in the western state of Goa.

Police said he was carried away by a strong current after going for a swim with his wife, who had to watch in horror as a lifeguard attempted to revive her husband to no avail.

The married couple were regular visitors in Goa, cops told local media.

An autopsy has been ordered after the tourist’s death was registered as “unnatural” by police.
