The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has confirmed that an attack has taken place against a ship off the Yemeni port of Hodeidah in the Red Sea.
The authority wrote on its account on the "X" platform: "UKMTO received a report of an incident that occurred 70 nautical miles (about 130 kilometers) southwest of Hodeidah." The incident was classified as an "attack."
The statement said that the authorities are investigating the incident. It advised ships to navigate the area "with caution" and to report any suspicious activity.
The Houthis in Yemen have previously announced their support for Palestine and their intention to attack any ships linked to Israel or sailing to Israeli ports. They stressed that they do not interfere in freedom of navigation in the region or in the ships of other countries.
