Candace Owens backs Russia against Ukraine's 'homosexual actor' president

Right-wing influencer Candace Owens came out in support of a Russian victory in Ukraine after claiming that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was a "homosexual actor."

In a Tuesday post on X (formerly Twitter), Owens said she would never "hope that Zelensky triumphs over an orthodox Russia."

"Spiritually, I just know that's wrong," she wrote. "You simply do not support a homosexual actor that is locking up churches and bishops."

Although there is no evidence that Zelenskyy is gay, right-wing figures like Ted Nugent have insisted that the Ukrainian leader is a "homosexual weirdo."

Zelenskyy has expressed support for LGBTQ+ rights. In 2022, he said that the country's constitution made it impossible to legalize same-sex marriage. Still, he was working with the government for "solutions regarding the legalization of registered civil partnership in Ukraine as part of the work on establishing and ensuring human rights and freedoms."

In 2003, Zelenskyy married Ukrainian screenwriter Olena Zelenska.
