- Charles Hoskinson announced that, following the successful implementation of the classic game “Doom” on Cardano’s Hydra layer two solutions, developers are now working to bring a Nintendo emulator to Hydra.
- Hydra has Layer 2 scaling solutions such as decommits, allowing for updates to the Open state on-chain.
Cardano’s founder Charles Hoskinson is looking to explore the potential advancements that could happen for BOS and Cardano alongside Hydra, its layer2 solution. BOS is a smart contract network built on Bitcoin (BTC) that enhances its interoperability.
As reported by CNF, Cardano partnered with BitcoinOS, enabling its Decentralized Finance (DeFi) users to access Bitcoin’s liquidity directly, bypassing any third parties in the network. For context Hydra has Layer 2 scaling solutions such as decommits, allowing for updates to the Open state on-chain.
Bitcoin will get PRIVACY through @BTC_OS (and Midnight)!
Also DJED stablecoin can be backed with Bitcoin.

Nintendo Emulator on Cardano’s Hydra
Hydra is a scaling solution for Cardano designed to improve transaction speed and reduce delays by processing certain operations off-chain. This setup allows transactions to occur in parallel through unique structures called “Hydra Heads” or state channels. By using Hydra Heads, Cardano can handle multiple transactions simultaneously, enabling much faster interactions.
Recently, a team of developers managed to get the classic video game “Doom” to run on Hydra, demonstrating the platform’s potential to handle real-time applications. This also displayed Hydra’s capability for faster and more efficient transactions by moving certain operations off the main blockchain.
Building on this success, the developers are now working to implement a Nintendo emulator on Hydra. If successful, this would mean that Hydra could potentially support the emulation of popular Nintendo games, further showcasing the versatility and transaction-processing power of Cardano’s L2 solution.
The founder of Cardano also shared insights into speed-running, a niche but vibrant part of gaming culture where players try to complete games as quickly as possible. This community is sizable, with thousands of players worldwide who continuously refine their skills to set record times for different games. It has grown significantly, partly due to video-sharing and live-streaming platforms like YouTube and Twitch, where speed-runners share and broadcast their gameplay. Speedrun.com serves as the go-to leaderboard platform for this community, hosting more than 2 million recorded runs across 20,000 games,
On the financial side, Cardano’s ADA token currently ranks as the 11th largest asset by market capitalization according to our data. While ADA has seen a modest 1.98% increase in value over the last 24 hours, it has faced challenges with a 6.54% decline in the past week. This shows Cardano’s continued growth potential but also highlights the volatility and competitive pressures it faces in the blockchain market.
