China may be responsible for making and posting a large number of fake videos featuring Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, spreading false information about her personal life. The videos were created using artificial intelligence and featured fake hosts and voice overs. The Chinese Ministry of State Security is believed to be behind this informational operation, as the videos contained Chinese phrases not commonly used in Taiwan. Taiwan’s voters will choose a new leader on Saturday as Tsai is set to step down after serving the maximum two terms.
