Conspiracy Theorist Admits To Setting Canadian Wildfires

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

It turns out that an anti-government conspiracy nut who blamed the government for the Canadian fires last year was one of the people setting the fires:

A Canadian man who spread online conspiracy theories saying the government was deliberately starting forest fires pleaded guilty to personally setting 14 fires himself, CBC reported.

Brian Paré, 38, pleaded guilty to 13 counts of arson and one count of arson with disregard for human life at a courthouse in Chibougamau, Quebec, on Monday.

The news outlet said that police began to examine Paré's Facebook page, where he regularly posted about forest fires in Quebec, claiming the government had deliberately started them to trick people into believing in the climate crisis.

Paré claimed that his motivation was to test whether the forests were really as dry as official said they were.

Gee, his story is not unlike all the Republican election deniers that committed voter fraud to prove that it was possible, missing the point that they were arrested and charged for the crime, proving the system was working fine.
