COP29 countries endorse global carbon market framework

The COP29 climate summit is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan this week. So far, the conference has given the go-ahead to establish 'carbon credit quality standards'. That could pave the way for the creation of a global carbon-trading market. But critics say the system allows rich polluting countries a way out while doing little to cut emissions.
