According to SunLife, a UK insurance company, the expense of funerals has reached an unprecedented level. This surge in costs has prompted almost a quarter of the population to opt for direct cremations or burials without formal ceremonies. The report also points out that in the previous year, roughly 20% of individuals had to sell personal belongings to cover funeral expenses. Last year, the average "cost of dying" in the UK was around £9,658 ($12,296), showing a £458 increase from 2022 and setting a new record as reported by SunLife.
