The couple’s flight had taken off from Turin Airport, Italy at 11am on Wednesday when, just 15 minutes in, an alarm sounded.
Unbeknownst to Federica, Giuseppe had become unresponsive.
Two doctors on board the flight gave him CPR before the flight crew attempted to revive him using a defibrillator.
The flight was turned around to return to the departure airport.
