In a recent interview, David Fincher revealed that Mindhunter Season 3 of the series “does not make sense”! As there were some issues with the budget and there are many good shows to compete with!

Mindhunter is hands down one of the most popular series on Netflix, a cult hit with tons of fans, it was released in 2017 with 10 episodes and became popular the same year.

Two years later, it returned with a second season in August 2019, and it increased the show’s popularity even more. The show features stars like Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, Hannah Gross, Cotter Smith, and more.

It also managed to bag awards like the Writers Guild of America Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards, Dorian Awards, Satellite Awards, and more.

After the tremendous success of the first two seasons, fans were excited for the third one but the makers of the shows had other plans. In 2020, David Fincher who is one of the executive producers of the show gave an interview where he said that the show is over and fans shouldn’t wait for season three.

Netflix informed that the reason for the discontinuation of the show was Fincher’s lack of interest and his desire to work on other projects, however, Fincher left room for hope and fans were hopeful until January this year when he finally confirmed that the series is officially over.

The news was a shocker for many fans who were eagerly waiting for the third season, the frustration went to such an extent that petitions were getting signed on Change.org. Speaking to Forbes, Fincher revealed that the reason for the discontinuation was a lack of interest from Netflix, it was a big-budget show and the streaming giant felt that it wasn’t worth the investment because it failed to attract a wider audience.

The actors involved in the first two seasons also want to return to the show badly, one of the lead actors in the show, Holt McCallany, even said that some sources have said that David Fincher is considering somehow starting the third season but they are lots of ifs and buts.

Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if there will be any third season and maybe the makers will come up with something similar to that, only time will tell.
