Deadly fighting grinds on in Gaza's Khan Yunis

On Thursday, Israel intensified its military operation in the Gazan city of Khan Yunis, as reported by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas. According to Hamas, numerous casualties occurred due to intense bombardment and urban combat. The Israeli army stated that it has "encircled" Khan Yunis, the hometown of Hamas's Gaza chief, Yahya Sinwar, who is accused of orchestrating the October 7 attacks that triggered the ongoing conflict.
