Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan said that allegations of private sector labor brokering in Karawang must be highlighted and eradicated if the allegations are true.
Quoted from an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday, Deputy Minister of Manpower Noel asked companies to be aware that brokering can be rampant, so they must actively participate in prevention efforts.
“Don't even let people 'sell information' to outside parties,” said Noel.
This signal became the focus of the Deputy Minister of Manpower after seeing the upload of the elected Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, on social media, which said that there was brokering in Karawang.
In the upload, Dedi said that in order to be accepted into a company, some people have to pay IDR 3 million, IDR 5 million, IDR 7 million, and sometimes even IDR 15 million to brokers.
