MAGA world has grown concerned that Gov. Ron DeSantis' (R-FL) pick to fill Marco Rubio's (R-FL) vacant Senate seat could dwindle the House's Republican majority even further and endanger Trump legislation from passing through Congress.

Rubio is currently undergoing confirmation hearings to become the next secretary of state.

House Republicans have been dealing with a razor-thin voting margin since President-elect Donald Trump poached Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Michael Waltz (R-FL) to serve in his administration.

The Daily Beast reported Wednesday, "DeSantis spoke this week with Florida Reps. Cat Cammack, a rising star and Trump ally who is also close with DeSantis, and Cory Mills, a MAGA firebrand, sources told the Daily Beast. And he acknowledged on Monday that he’s well aware of the practical implications at play for advancing Trump’s agenda," saying in a news conference, "Are you going to go from 217 to 216? That’s a tough, tough thing."

Since Cammack and Mills are from red districts, they're considered safe choices for Republicans to replace.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is trying "not to lose more than two votes on any one bill," so he can successfully move Trump’s agenda. "Multiple GOP sources raised concerns that plucking either Cammack or Mills from the House could be disastrous for Johnson—and for Trump," according to The Daily Beast.

The news outlet quoted a senior GOP source saying that the House margins could go "from 217-215 to 216-215. In either scenario, House Republicans need unanimous support from all members to pass any measure; otherwise, it will fail."

Regardless of whom DeSantis picks, Mills "has expressed interest in running for the Senate in 2026," the report said. He could have a bumpy road, though, since the House Ethics Committee recently launched a probe "into unspecified allegations against Mills."

Other Republican contenders for Rubio's seat include Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and DeSantis’ chief of staff James Uthmeier.
