Scholars and researchers are raising awareness about the dwindling of historic Black communities in the United States. These communities were founded by formerly enslaved people and played a crucial role in preserving Black culture and history. However, white supremacists, gentrification, and political challenges have led to the erasure of many of these neighborhoods. Additionally, the systemic devaluation of homes in majority Black neighborhoods and the efforts of organizations like Rebuild Albina and the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community are discussed.
