Speaking to journalist Don Lemon he said it helped manage “a negative chemical state in my brain, like depression”.

He added: “From the standpoint of Wall Street, what matters is execution.

“For investors, if there’s something I’m taking, I should keep taking it.”

Ketamine is mainly used as an anaesthetic but is being explored as a treatment for depression.

Musk told Lemon he first mentioned it on X/Twitter last year because he thought “maybe this is something that could help other people”.

Earlier in the week Elon was caught up in more controversy.

Musk leaped to Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s defense after the politician was called out on X.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough posted a short clip of a speech given by Trump on the social media platform while adding a scathing critique of the Republican presidential candidate.

“Donald Trump’s America. And he is proud of it,” wrote the host in his March 16 post.

“Promised another ‘bloodbath’ if he loses,” Scarborough continued.

Musk, also the owner of X, quickly came to Trump’s defense, commenting on the post.

“Jan 6 was not a ‘bloodbath’ by any definition,” he began

“And Trump was referring to job losses in the auto industry when he used that word. Your post is extremely misleading,” accused Musk.

He went on to continue his support the next day, posting a snide subtweet on March 17, calling out Scarborough.

“Easy to tell who is an NPC today,” he wrote accompanying a meme.
