Ethereum Whales Shift $1 Bln Worth ETH As Price Nears $2,300 Mark

Ethereum (ETH), the second largest cryptocurrency, is nearing the $2,300 mark owing to recent price gains. Earlier, the second largest crypto attained a new 1-month peak of $2,362 on December 11 but plunged after. Recently, Ethereum whales have been going crazy with ETH transfers amid the recent price surge. In the past 24 hours, ETH tokens worth over $995 million have been shifted by these whales.

Recent ETH Whale Transfers

At the time of writing, the most recent whale shift was witnessed when 14,679 ETH tokens were transferred from an unknown wallet to Coinbase, according to a post on X by Whale Alert. The transaction was worth $34.15 million. About four hours before this transaction, 150,000 ETH worth $347 million was shifted to the same exchange as well.

It was preceded by a similar transaction of 149,999 ETH, worth $347 million, which was moved to Coinbase. Furthermore, another whale transaction was witnessed wherein 50,000 ETH worth over $116 million was shifted from an unknown wallet to Kraken.

In addition, 15,887 ETH worth $36.6 million were moved from an unknown wallet to Coinbase. Moreover, four major transactions made towards Beacon Depositor were recorded. Three of these transactions had a peculiar similarity as exactly 12,800 ETH was transferred to Beacon Depositor in each of the three transfers.

Meanwhile, the total of the three transactions was over $88 million. The latest Beacon Depositor transfer was recorded to be 11,712 ETH which was worth $26.94 million. Notably, the value of all the aforementioned Ethereum whale transactions comes up to over $995 million.

ETH Price Performance

The Ethereum price was up by 0.02% as the crypto traded at $2,291.94 at the time of writing on Saturday, December 23, 2023. The market cap stood at $275.38 billion, up by 0.01%. On the other hand, the 24-hour trade volume of ETH dipped by 16.77% to $12.97 billion.

In the past seven days, the second-largest crypto by market cap has witnessed a growth of slightly over 2%, along with a 10% jump over the last 30 days. On a year-to-date basis, the ETH price has added nearly 90%, catching the eyes of investors.
