Representatives of the European Parliament condemned the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, accusing Israel of using hunger as a weapon against the Palestinians. The representatives called on the international community to act immediately and take measures to save the residents of the Gaza Strip and put an end to Israel.
Representatives in the European Parliament accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to break its silence and take action against this situation.
Irish representative to the European Council, Grace O'Sullivan, stated on Wednesday, during a session of the General Assembly on the Israeli attacks on Gaza, that "the humanitarian crisis in Gaza did not occur because of a natural disaster or crop failure, but rather as a result of Israel's actions and the silent inaction of the world in the face of the cries of the people of Gaza."
She stated that she had received a letter from a Palestinian father in Gaza, stating that people in the Strip were suffering from real famine, in light of the absence of food, water, and electricity, and that the smell of rotting corpses was wafting in the streets.
In turn, Hilda Votmann, a Belgian member of the European Parliament, denounced the Israeli attacks on humanitarian aid convoys and civilian infrastructure.
She affirmed her refusal to use hunger as a weapon in war, calling on Israel to open all corridors so that convoys can reach Gaza.
As for Spanish MP Miguel Urban Crespo, he said that what is happening in Gaza is “genocide,” and that Israel is using hunger as a weapon of war.
He added that the Israeli attack on people while they were waiting for humanitarian aid “was not a mistake,” but rather a deliberate strategy to prevent the distribution of aid and end the possibility of living in the Strip.
