The FBI is asking for help hunting a man they suspect of being an Iranian assassin targeting former officials of President Donald Trump's administration.

Semafor reported Monday that Majid Dastjani Farahani is thought to have been recruiting people for the killing.

"Majid Dastjani Farahani, an Iranian intelligence officer, is wanted for questioning in connection with the recruitment of individuals for various operations in the United States, to include lethal targeting of current and former United States Government officials as revenge for the killing of IRGC-QF Commander Qasem Soleimani," a wanted poster shared in Miama, Florida, states.

"Farahani also reportedly recruited individuals for surveillance activities focused on religious sites, businesses, and other facilities in the United States. Farahani acted or purported to act for, or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security," it continues.

Farahani was previously sanctioned for alleged connections to human rights abuses, a Dec. 2023 release from the National Security Division (NSD) of the Justice Department said. The sanctions were handed down to Farahani along with another man, Mohammad Mahdi Khanpour Ardestani, for searching for recruits.

Semafor pointed out the warning from the FBI was out of the Miami office. It stated that Farahani speaks Spanish and frequently travels between Iran and Venezuela.

"The Iranian government has repeatedly vowed over the past four years to avenge the 2020 death of Major General Qasem Soleimani — a commander of Iran’s elite Qods Force — whom the Trump administration assassinated in Baghdad using a drone strike on his convoy," the report said.

"The DoJ indicted members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) in 2022 for allegedly plotting to murder Trump’s former national security adviser, John Bolton, who served in the White House in the months leading up to Soleimani’s death."

The DOJ thinks that the main targets are former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Trump’s special envoy for Iran, Brian Hook. Hook now works for Cerberus Capital Management.
