The FIFA General Assembly will vote during its next meeting in Bangkok on the 17th of this month on the Palestinian Football Association’s request to remove Israel from FIFA membership.

The Palestinian Football Association submitted a memorandum requesting a vote on isolating Israel from the football community, so that FIFA can approve the proposal to put it to a vote during the next General Assembly (Congress).

The President of the Jordanian Football Association, Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, said yesterday, Sunday, that FIFA is “under examination to exercise its duties towards human rights policy,” before considering a Palestinian request to remove Israel from FIFA membership.

Prince Ali bin Al Hussein wrote, in a blog post on the “X” platform: “The participation of young people and the protection of their human rights are among the most important principles of football, which have always been a source of pride for me during my career in this field. He added in a second blog post: “As we approach the 2024 FIFA Congress, we strive, as always, to achieve justice and humanity and stand on the right side of history.”

In a statement issued last March, the Palestinian Federation said that 99 Palestinian players had been killed since the start of the war in Gaza, in addition to “the destruction of football facilities.”

At the time, the head of the Israeli Football Association, Shlomi Barzel, stressed that “the Israeli Federation has always adhered to FIFA regulations.”
