Finnish Foreign Minister Elena Valtonen stated that Western countries should not completely abandon the idea of sending troops to Ukraine if the situation there deteriorates.
“It is important not to rule everything out in the long term, because we do not know how serious the situation may become,” Valtonen said in a statement to Politico on Friday.
However, she added: "But Finland's position is clear. We will not send any troops now and we do not want to discuss it."
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that participants in the conference of countries supporting Ukraine, which was held in Paris on February 26, discussed the possibility of sending Western forces to Ukraine to support its forces.
Macron explained that there is no consensus on this idea, but he did not rule out this option.
In turn, the leaders of most Western countries and NATO announced that they do not intend to send troops to Ukraine.
