It is always recommended to eat dinner 3-4 hours before going to sleep, because all the processes taking place in the body slow at night, including metabolism.
Dr. Ekaterina Kozina, a Russian nutrition expert, indicated in an interview with the newspaper “Vechernaya Moskva” that there are foods that are not recommended to be eaten at dinner:
- Caffeine . It is always recommended to drink coffee in the morning, and this is a well-known fact that everyone knows. It is also better to refrain from drinking black and green tea in the evening. Because the caffeine in these drinks has a stimulant effect.
- Sweets . The expert advises eating sweets of all kinds in the first half of the day. Because eating it at night adds a few extra centimeters to the waist circumference. In addition, it causes high blood sugar levels.
- Raw vegetables . The expert warns against eating celery, broccoli, carrots, etc. at night because they may affect sleep quality. Because vegetables contain a high percentage of dietary fiber, which takes a long time to digest. In addition, celery is considered a strong diuretic. Therefore, it is better to eat these vegetables steamed.
- Beans and other legumes , according to the expert, these products can cause an increase in gas formation and heaviness in the stomach. Therefore, the person will not be able to sleep immediately.
- Red meat . It is best to eat red meat at lunch because it contains a high percentage of protein and fats that the body needs. Therefore, eating it at night puts a burden on the stomach. Poultry meat and fish are more suitable for dinner, but in limited quantities.
- Alcohol : Regular consumption of alcohol before bedtime threatens insomnia. In addition, the body will not be able to regain its normal state during the night, so the person wakes up in the morning very tired.
- Fruits : Fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and others contain many vitamins and mineral elements, and eating them at night may lead to bloating and abdominal pain.
