The Israeli occupation forces continue to storm and besiege the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, west of Gaza City, for the eleventh day. The Israeli occupation army continues to storm and besiege the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, west of Gaza City, and bomb, destroy, and burn a number of homes and residential buildings surrounding the hospital, for the eleventh day, causing martyrs and wounded. While the Palestinian armed factions continue to confront the incursion of the Israeli occupation forces into that area using a variety of light and medium weapons.
Thick clouds of smoke rose from the areas surrounding Al-Shifa Hospital, in addition to the sounds of huge explosions resulting from the Israeli bombing of homes, according to eyewitnesses, today, Thursday.
Witnesses reported that the Israeli occupation army continues to force hundreds of Palestinians to evacuate their residential areas around the hospital and leave towards the southern regions of the Gaza Strip.
According to witnesses, the occupation army bombed and burned a group of houses and apartments surrounding the hospital.
The people around the hospital have been suffering for 11 days from a shortage of food and water supplies, due to the Israeli siege on the area.
The government media office in the Gaza Strip stated that the Israeli occupation army has executed more than 200 Palestinians inside the Shifa Medical Complex and arrested about a thousand others since its storming.
The office said in a statement on Thursday: “The Israeli occupation army’s crime against Al-Shifa Medical Complex and those inside and around it continues, as available information indicates that the occupation soldiers executed more than 200 displaced citizens inside the complex, and arrested about a thousand others.”
He added, "The Israeli army threatens the medical staff and the displaced people inside the complex's buildings by bombing and destroying the buildings above their heads, or going out for investigation and torture or execution."
The office condemned "the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians, which continue in full view of the whole world, without doing anything to stop this massacre against this medical facility and civilians protected by the force of humanitarian law."
He stressed that "the failure of the international community to take a strong and decisive stance since the first storming of Al-Shifa Medical Complex and targeting hospitals by bombing is what encouraged the occupation to continue with the crime of targeting and storming hospitals and medical facilities."
In turn, Ismail Al-Thawabta, director of the office, said that the occupation forces executed 5 doctors and nurses, and detained a number of other medical staff.
He added: "The occupation arrests hundreds of sick, wounded, and displaced people, and interrogates, tortures, and starves them."
He pointed out that the Israeli occupation army combed residential squares in the vicinity of the hospital, destroyed and bombed dozens of homes, demolishing them “completely,” and committed massacres inside the complex against the displaced and detainees.
Fierce resistance
In this context, the Al-Quds Brigades (the military arm of the Islamic Jihad Movement) said in posts on the Telegram platform: “In a joint operation, the Mujahideen of the Al-Quds Brigades, the Al-Qassam Brigades (the military wing of the Hamas Movement) and the Mujahideen Brigades (the military wing of the Mujahideen Movement) bombed gatherings of Zionist enemy soldiers with a barrage of mortar shells.” In the vicinity of Al-Shifa Complex, west of Gaza City.
She added: "We targeted an Israeli military vehicle with a Tandom shell in the vicinity of the Al-Shifa Complex intersection on Al-Thawra Street, west of Gaza City."
This is the second time that the occupation forces have stormed Al-Shifa Hospital since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023. They stormed it for the first time on November 16 after besieging it for a week, and destroyed its courtyards, parts of its buildings, medical equipment, and the electricity generator.
Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of civilians martyred and injured, most of them children and women, a humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.”
