French Senate votes to add abortion rights to the constitution after US rollback

French senators on Wednesday voted in favour of enshrining the right to have an abortion in the constitution, clearing a key hurdle. If the bill is approved by a three-fifths vote of parliament, France will become the first country in the world to include abortion rights in its constitution.
