Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant confirmed that his country had eliminated the military infrastructure of the Hamas movement in most parts of the Gaza Strip.
Galant said during a hearing in the Defense and Foreign Policy Committee in the Knesset: “The extremists continue organized military operations only in the area of the city of Rafah, close to the border with Egypt.”
He pointed out that Hamas has stopped operating as a military organization in most parts of the Gaza Strip.
He added that Hamas leaders are hiding in the tunnels, and have lost their ability to command and control, and their brigades in most areas of the Strip have stopped working, but the Hamas brigade in Rafah is still active with four brigades.
He continued: "We will deal with that soon."
It is noteworthy that the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Monday demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during the month of Ramadan. The resolution does not link the ceasefire to the release of detainees.
Israel announced that it would continue the military operation in the Gaza Strip until all the hostages were liberated.
