Germany is currently “not prepared to confront cyber threats,” said Claudia Plattner, head of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
Plattner explained in an interview with the German newspaper "Tagesspiegel" that to confront cyber attacks, the authorities must be able to "act from the first moments" and present a comprehensive picture of the situation.
She said, "When necessary, the authorities need to form crisis groups and combine the capabilities of the federal government and the authorities of the federal states," stressing that the German authorities are not ready for that day. Such coordination has not been reached with each other.
The head of the office also stressed that there should be no need to call each other 16 times to find out “what is happening in any federal state.”
She explained that "there are no... structures that guarantee our ability to coordinate our actions in such a crisis," noting that establishing these structures is "absolutely necessary."
At the beginning of this March, on March 1, the editor-in-chief of the RT channel and the Rossiya Sevodnya group, Margarita Simonyan , published an audio recording of conversations that took place between senior German army officers.
Four senior officials in the German Army participated in the conversation, including the head of the Air Force's Operations and Exercise Department, where they discussed the possibility of sending missiles to train the Ukrainian army to launch missiles to target the Crimean Bridge.
In turn, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed the authenticity of the recording, saying that the reason for the leak of the conversation was an unsecured connection of one of the participants in the conversation.
