Gunman wrote letter revealing Trump assassination plot months before golf course attempt, says DOJ

After prosecutors signaled plans to seek a further count of attempted assassination, court papers filed on Monday revealed that Ryan Routh, the main suspect in the second attempt on Republican nominee Donald Trump's life, had written a letter months prior to the September attempt in which he confessed to a previous failed assassination bid.
