The small Central American country of Honduras has become a hub for a devastating – yet often overlooked – scourge: human trafficking, the third most profitable criminal activity in the world after drug and arms trafficking. Located between North and South America, Honduras is a key transit point for all kinds of trafficking. Endemic poverty, widespread violence and deep-rooted corruption have made it fertile ground for international human trafficking networks.
