HORROR footage captured the chilling moment a paraglider plunged to his death after his parachute became tangled mid-air.
The 39-year-old athlete died in front of shocked onlookers while competing in a paragliding tournament in Vietnam.
Shocking video shows the paraglider up in the air just moments before he came crashing down to his death.
People present at the scene can be seen running towards him to help.
The man was trying to land in the empty field when his parachute became tangled, causing him to fall to the ground, locals have said.
The man, who is said to have been a resident of Hanoi, was taken to Kon Tum Hospital after suffering traumatic injuries to his brain and chest.
He died soon after in the hospital as he was being treated for severe injuries.
Doctor Vo Van Thien, Director of Kon Tum Provincial General Hospital, said that the man went into a deep coma after “suffering multiple brain injuries, chest injuries, and broken bones”.
The doctor added that he died after three hours of emergency treatment.
The paragliding event, where the horror accident took place, was a part of the Kon Tum Tourism Culture Week 2024.
It was organised by the People’s Committee of Sa Thay district in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province.
Some 127 athletes are said to have participated in the cultural event.
It comes after a Brit base jumper plunged to his death floors after his parachute failed to open.
Nathy Odinson, 33, of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire is said to have climbed to the top of an apartment building in Eastern Thailand on Saturday night.
Once at the top of the tower block, footage showed Nathy count down from three before leaping into the night sky.
The camera followed him as he then went into a deadly tailspin while a small pilot chute swung wildly in the air.
Witnesses heard Nathy land in a tree before he hit the ground with a sickening thud.
A friend of the base jumper is heard in the video exclaiming, “Oh f***”, and emergency services were called a short time later.
Paramedics arrived at about 7.30pm local time but sadly could not save Nathy. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traumatised security guard Kanet Chansong, 33, said: “I heard the sound of the tree and I thought it was a fallen branch hitting the ground.
“A woman screamed so I walked over and realised it was a person. They were dead. I saw that they had jumped from the building.”
The adrenaline-chasing Brit is said to have performed skydives and base jumps all around the world.
Meanwhile, a Brit who died after hitting his head while jumping off a bridge in Australia was “loving life”, pals said.
Joshua Santos Christian, in his 30s, was visiting the Noosa Sound Bridge in Queensland with friends on Sunday when he tragically died.
They were reportedly taking turns jumping from the bridge into the river below – a spot popular with tourists.
Joshua, who moved to Brisbane from the Wirral, completed one jump and returned to the bridge for a second attempt.
But he lost his balance while crossing the railing, struck his head and plunged into the water.
After he failed to surface, his friends started a frantic search before contacting emergency rescue services at 1am.
