THIS is the horror moment a road rage driver pulls out a gun on a terrified couple and blasts through their windscreen as they’re on the phone to the police.

The shocking incident took place on a motorway in Boituva near São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday after the man, identified as businessman Adriano Domingues da Costa, 47, allegedly hit the side of the vehicle.

The couple in the car, named as Gabrielle Gimenez and William Isidoro, followed the suspect along the motorway until he slammed on his brakes and confronted them face-to-face.

The clip shows Domingues da Costa approaching their vehicle with what appears to be the weapon concealed behind his back.

He then asks Gimenez, who is on the phone to the police, to lower her window but she refuses after an officer advised her not to do so.

The suspect then shoots at the vehicle’s wheels before firing towards the two passengers in the car.

In total, he appears to fire five shots before getting back in his SUV and driving off.

It remains unclear whether the couple sustained any injuries.

The police are now searching for Domingues da Costa following the attack.

The day after the altercation, police seized the suspect’s vehicle at a hotel in Piraju, about 130 miles from the scene of the crime.

Officers encountered his wife at the hotel but her name was not included on the arrest warrant.

As Domingues da Costa was not at the hotel, the police raided his home in Mariporã, a municipality in São Paulo state, on Sunday (June 16).

Again, the suspect was not present when they arrived.

Authorities reportedly seized his passport and a “tonfa” baton – a melee weapon typically used in Okinawan martial arts.

A police spokesperson said: “On Sunday morning, the police carried out a search and seizure warrant at his house and confiscated his passport.

“The police are making every effort to locate him.

“Any information about the fugitive’s whereabouts can be communicated by calling 181.”

The police have registered the case as attempted murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
